Thank you for your question. Converting .MER runtime files can be quite complicated, and I do cover this in Appendix D.

That said, here's a couple of quick notes for anyone with similar questions:

1) Not all .MER files can be edited / restored to a project: Old versions didn't support this at all, and later versions allow you to disable conversion when making new .MER files.

2) If you're using ViewStudio 6.1 to 9.0 on a 64bit version of Windows, you will not be able to convert restore-able pre-6.1 .MER files without the Legacy conversion tool, or the patch mentioned in the below tech note:

So back to your specific question Gary, assuming you're running a pre-v10 version of ViewStudio, I would suggest running the above patch to see if it resolves the issue,
