      Good afternoon David,

To your first question, my PLC Basics course is designed to be used with either a MicroLogix 1000 or 1100 since both those models are supported by the free RSLogix Micro Starter Lite programming software. I also show how to use the free RS Emulate 500 PC based SLC-500 / MicroLogix Emulator in the course as well.

I've also designed the course to use inexpensive industrial components which most students will find very affordable, and will list a few of the items below:

      – Pilot Lights: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/PL
      – Relay: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/relay1
      – 24vdc Power Supply: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/24vdc
      – Start Stop PB Station: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/sspb
      – Diffuse PhotoEyes: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/DiffusePhotoeye
      – Retro PhotoEyes: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/RetroPhotoeye
      – Used MicroLogix 1100: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/MicroLogix1100
      – Used MicroLogix 1000: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/MicroLogix1000
      – USB to Serial: http://TheAutomationSchool.com/usbs
      – Serial to ML Cable http://TheAutomationSchool.com/pm02

As to your second question, these are the courses I would recommend:

PLC Basics Second Edition for RSLogix 500 to modify and download program into Micrologix, CPU 5/03, 5/04 and 5/05

PAC Basics for RSLogix 5000 to modify and download program into CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLC’s

PVP Basics for Factory Talk View Studio to modify and download into Panel View Plus HMI

As far as RSLinx Classic, it is covered extensively in both PLC and PAC basics, and while many customers do have the “Gateway” version, almost no one uses those “Gateway” features today.

And as far as PanelBuilder32 and the classic PanelView Standard products, while I'd love to create a course on these great old products, I'm not sure there is a market for training on them anymore?

Thanks for your inquiry – please let me know if you have any other questions,

      Sincerely,

      Shawn Tierney, The Automation School
