Shawn Tierney commented on lesson Lesson 31: Backing Up Your Project 5 years, 3 months ago

      Good morning Nghia,

In Lesson 22 I cover how to connect the PanelView Plus to SLC-500, MicroLogix, ControlLogix, and CompactLogix. controllers. If you have questions on that process, please feel free to leave them there,

      Sincerely,

      Shawn Tierney,

      Good afternoon Nghia,

Since we don't cover the PanelView Standard in this lesson or course, please post your question to me over on my blog on the article or video you feel is the best match:

      Good afternoon Bradley,

      Sounds like a great application!

Most would use the Display Tags under Global Connections to accomplish this.
      – The Replace Display Number tag writes the current screen number to the assigned tag (to the PLC)
      – And if the tag assigned to the Remote Display Number is a non-zero value, the PVPlus will go to the…[Read more]

      Good morning Gary,

Thanks for your question. I searched a couple of my VMs and it looks like Rockwell does not include the Baggage program (for PLC-5 and SLC-500) in later versions of FTView.

That said, I can confirm I do include the SLC-500 version in the downloads found in Appendix…[Read more]

      Good morning Gary,

Thank you for your question. Converting .MER runtime files can be quite complicated, and I do cover this in Appendix D.

That said, here's a couple of quick notes for anyone with similar questions:

      1) Not all .MER files can be edited / restored to a project: Old versions didn't support this at all, and later versions…[Read more]

      Good morning Felipe,

I believe you misunderstood my last reply – if you go back to Lesson 10, at the 42 second mark you'll see under “Project Settings” where you can choose a PanelView Plus 7.

When you choose a PanelView Plus 7 you will get a second option to choose Standard or Enhanced, as can be seen in the below image:

      Hope this…[Read more]

      Good afternoon Felipe,

      Thanks for the update.

This is something we discussed at the very beginning of the course – the PanelView Plus Compact and PanelView Plus 7 Standard both have limited functionality.

You'll need to open Project Settings and change the selection to PVPlus 7 standard. In never versions of View Studio it's actually a…[Read more]

      Good morning Felipe,

      Thanks for your question.

What error is the PVP7 giving you?

Did you change the version of the runtime to match your PVP7's version prior to downloading it? (see 0:55 in the lesson video)

      Hope this helps,

      Good morning Alvaro,

      Thanks for your question.

Yes, you'll have access to the free running clock (S:4) in all SLC-500 and MicroLogix controllers.

In Logix controllers you need to read (GSV) the SystemDateAndTime variable into a tag first.

      Hope this helps,

      Good morning Daniel,

      Thanks for your questions.

      Question: Restoring and editing .MERs

Restoring and editing a .MER project is not always possible, and therefore it's not listed in the course description as it's not covered in this course.

Instead, what is covered is the importance of having a project archive file (.APA) if you need…[Read more]

      Good morning Maitrey,

Yes, you can add Users and assign them Security Codes in Runtime Security.

That said, while I don't cover security in this course I added “Appendix C” which should help get you started.

      Sincerely,
