Good morning Nghia,
The latest PVP7 firmware should support all old and current products, but you may find you need to install the patch roll-up on your ViewStudio PC to get native support for new products in RSLinx Enterprise/FTLinx.
Just curious – which version of ViewStudio are you using, and which PLC is not showing up in RSLinx E /…[Read more]

Good morning Nghia,
Thanks for your question.
Typically with FTViewME and the PanelView Plus the only way to get new device support is by installing the latest patch roll-up and firmware.
But sometimes really old versions never get updated with new products, and in the case of ControlLogix and CompactLogix, you can often add a similar…[Read more]

Good afternoon Jose,
Thank you for your question.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is the “free” software I show how to download (RSLogix Micro Starter LITE) only works with the MicroLogix 1000 and 1100, and the FREE Emulator (RSLogix Emulate 500.)
The other thing to keep in mind is that the MicroLogix 1000, 1200, and 1500 do not have…[Read more]

Good morning Carl,
I'd guess they had a temporary outage overnight and are back up this morning. Can you confirm it's working for you now?
Thanks,

Good morning Nghia,
If you can load the MER on the PVPlus 6 and can access the Configuration Menu, you can actually pull up the Linx shortcuts in the menu on the PVPlus 6 to see what PLC each is linked to.
I'm pretty sure I cover this is Lesson 7, but if you don't find it there please let me know,
Hope this helps,
Shawn…[Read more]

Good afternoon Nghia,
Thanks for your reply. Sadly, comparing the old recoverable project to the new unrecoverable project might be your best option – if you have a PanelView in house, or get a 30 day trial license for ViewME Runtime, you could likely test it out in your office versus in the field.
As far as the RSLinx Enterprise setup,…[Read more]

Good afternoon Nghia,
Thanks for the feedback!
Quick question – did you try a “blank” password? By default the new Application Manager has the password checkbox checked, but the password is blank.
Another thing to look at is the Pixel Resolution on the old and new display – if they are the same (like 800×600) then the old project will…[Read more]

Good morning Nghia,
Thanks for your question!
I'd recommend using a USB Memory Stick / Flash Drive, or CF/SD Memory card to either transfer an MER to or from the PanelView Plus, or update the PanelVIew Plus's Firmware.
I say this because while it is possible to use a USB cable with all of the PanelView Plus models, finding and getting…[Read more]

Good morning @eliaquin Jaramillo,
Thank you very much for your question!
The Horizontal Position animation of the Gears in this lesson uses an Integer Tag that has a min of 0 and max of 500.
You could use the code I include with the course (see **note below,) a free running Timer, a System tag, or a Horizontal Slider and memory…[Read more]

Good morning @eliaquin Jaramillo,
The release notes for FactoryTalk View Machine Edition version 7.0 has this listed as a new feature:
– Support for PNG images – added support for png images, as well as jpg and bitmap images. This would lead me to believe the older version you are using does not support PNGs, and therefor I'd suggest…[Read more]

Good morning Eduardo,
Thanks for explaining the issue you ran into!
Also, I can confirm I plan to update the course with the new lessons on the latest PlantPAx, and I'm currently working behind the scenes on making the courses much more modular so I can easily update the throughout the year.
Thanks again,

Good morning Eduardo,
Thank you for your question.
Can you try my exact program (without aliasing the tags to IO) and see if it works?
Note – you will need a line of code to turn on M1X when M1 comes on (since you aren't using an actual motor starter.) Something like –| M1 | —( M1X )—
Thanks in advance,

Good morning Sandeep,
Thank you very much for your question. The path you provided is unsupported, and I'd be quite interested to know if it actually does anything?
The reason is, the IP address used is not officially supported by Rockwell devices as the IP Address is not a valid Device address.
For others who are viewing this, let me…[Read more]

Good morning Andy,
Thanks for your question!
In many cases, to share just the Analog Input Data values from one module owned by one Logix Controller with another Logix Controller, you would copy those values into an array and then message the array.
While this method requires a few instructions as well as an MSG, it's very efficient as…[Read more]

Good morning Omar,
Thank you for your question. In short, yes you can put our courses which you complete on your resume, but we are not accredited like a college or university.
We do include the Professional Development Hours (PDHs) on each certificate, and they are recognized by most professions as time spend taking courses and attending…[Read more]

Good morning Ricardo,
Thank you for your update and comments!
In my office I have a DHCP server, so new plcs connected to the network will show up in RSLinx's Ethernet IP driver with a random address assigned by the server.
To get around that, I also set my PC up with a static address, then connect directly to the PLC and use the bootp…[Read more]

Good morning RM,
Thanks for your question.
When you say you see your Micro820 in RSLinx, which driver in RSLinx are you seeing it in? Is it showing up under the Ethernet/IP Driver?
If it is, can you connect to it using CCW, and if you can, what do the settings show the Ethernet port setup for?
If the PLC is setup for BOOTP or DHCP it…[Read more]
